From the creators of Chasing Ice and Chasing Coral, The Social Dilemma blends documentary investigation and narrative drama to disrupt the disrupters, unveiling the hidden machinations behind everyone’s favorite social media and search platforms.
It is already being tipped for awards for it's powerful expose by Silicon Valley industry insiders who spill the beans on what's really going on & how WE are being played, controlled, shaped & manipulated.
The feature is available now on Netflix. You can also visit https://www.thesocialdilemma.com for resources, guidelines & updates including an open Q&A with the director & featured experts.
The second important (& related) Documentary relating to the impact of Social Media on children growing up is Childhood 2.0 - The Living Experiment (trailer & full documentary for free below).
Childhood 2.0 is required viewing for anyone who wants to better understand the world children are navigating as they grow up in the digital age. Featuring actual parents and kids as well as industry-leading experts in child safety and development, this documentary dives into the real-life issues facing kids today — including cyberbullying, online predators, suicidal ideation, and more.
Quote from the creators (at https://www.childhood2movie.com)
"For the first time in history, mental illness and suicide have become one of the greatest threats to school-aged children. Many parents still view dangers as primarily physical and external, but they’re missing the real danger: kids spending more time online and less time engaging in real life, free play, and autonomy.
What are the effects on the next generation's mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Childhood was more or less unchanged for millennia, but this is CHILDHOOD 2.0.
